Outlaws, gunfighters/gunslingers and lawmen in the wild west were interesting characters to say the least. There were those who walked a fine line between different sides of the law, and sometimes operated on both... occasionally simultaneously.

The following are some of these men.

You might be saying to yourself, "Hey, where is so and so, and so and so...." Well, we are just getting started with ones who landed in or were from Texas, and then adding new ones to compile a more complete list for your historical background on the subject. So be sure to bookmark this page and check back often for the updates.

Note: Belle Starr is on this list because of her association with others on this list.

Editors Note:

It is definitely not our intention to glorify the men and women on this list. They were interesting characters and made the expansion of the American west seem more exciting than just a gradual growth westward. They, however, had choices to make in their lives. We do not adhere to those 'expert' opinions that tend to excuse their actions for whatever reason. It was their 'choice' to live the life of criminals. It was their responsibility to make their choice in life. They made up a very small percentage of the millions of men and women who chose to make responsible choices which benefited others around them and their posterity rather than ones that harmed.

We, personally salute those we may never hear or read about that were the real foundation of what the west finally became in spite of what the men and women on this list did to hinder it.
